In the 1st min of the game, Fel’s Ben Johnson played a lovely thru ball for Lol Peddle whos chip went just over the bar, the first real chance of the game came in the 10th min when Liam Clark took a corner for Risden which was headed goalbound by Mark Vintinner only to see Adam McDermott head off the line for FEL, Mark Vintinner made enough space to have a shot from 18 yards in the 28th Min but his shot went narrowly wide, 3 mins later Risden were awarded a free kick just inside the halfway line, Liam Clark delivered a great ball which was headed in at the back post by Danny McKee 1-0 Risden, in the 40th min Ben Johnson shot from just inside the box and it was deflected past Risden Keeper Chay Brookwell by the feet of Lol Peddle only to see the linesmans flag up for offside, 2 mins later Clark was again at the centre of the action when he dropped a beautiful ball over the top of the FEL defence and Mark Vintinner lobbed the on rushing FEL Keeper Arrowsmith and the ball settled nicely in the bottom corner, Risden 2 up and thats how the first half ended.
Risden started the second half the better of the 2 teams and within 3 mins of the restart they extended their lead to 3-0 with the influential Liam clark striking from 25 yards which left Arrowsmith no chance at all. FEL manager Dean Perrett had a few choice words to say to his players and they obviously listened as they got a foothold in the game, in the 49th min a tussell between Risdens Mark Vintinner and FELs Lol Peddle resulted in both players each receiving a yellow card from todays match official Andy Jamieson, in the 55th min FEL striker Ben Johnson was fouled inside the area and the referee had no choice but to point to the spot, Joe Holgarth converted the penalty and FEL had started their fight back, 5 mins later and FEL were awarded a free kick about 35 yards out, Carl Fisk sent in a deep ball that evaded everybody, including the Risden Keeper and nestled in the net 3-2 and the game is back on, 3 mins later Joe Holgarth drops a great ball over the Risden defence and Stacey Jones’s first time shot came crashing back off the bar before being cleared by FEL, in the 80th min FEL are awarded another free kick but this time just inside their own half, Carl Fisk steps up and delivers a ball into the Risden area, which again evades everyone and ends up in the back of the net, 3-3 and a well deserved equalizer for FEL, this truly is a game of 2 halves, just before the final whistle, the influential Liam Clark drives a shot from 35 yards only to see it tipped over by Arrowsmith. Full Time 3-3 and yet another Cup Final goes to extra time.
2 mins into extra time and Risdens J Cooper found himself weaving his way into the FEL area and curls a lovely shot into the top corner and Risden are back in front 4-3, after 102 mins of football the first signs of cramp started to appear and Mark Vintinner who worked his socks off for Risden was the first to feel it but with Risden making all their subs he had to battle his way through only a minute later the limping Vintinner makes good work of a defensive mistake to cross the ball for Aiden Samuels to tap in from 2 yards, 5-3 Risden a minute later and at the other end of the pitch, Joe Holgarth’s shot was saved by Brookwell but he could only parry it into the path of Ben Johnson who finished well and FEL were bak in it at 5-4.
The second half of extra time got underway and on the 108 min mark FEL’s Lol Peddle tugged back Risden’s J Cooper and the Referee had no choice but to show him his second yellow card which was followed by a red card, FEL down to 10 men, only a minute later and FEL manager Dean Perrett was also asked to leave the pitch area and sit in the stands due to comments made to the fourth official, in the 111th min, man of the match and Risden Captain Liam Clark hit a free kick from all of 25 yards that nearly burst the net, 6-4 Risden and that is how it finished.
