Sunday (9th May) saw the H&DFL Premier Division Cup Final played out between Pools Athletic and Maypole Athletic at BSFC in front of 120 fans.

Pools started the better of the two teams and in the 2nd minute a great cross from Jordan Childs was headed just over by Glidden, in the 8th min a Maypole corner was headed agonisingly wide by Das, in the 14th min Ashley Conlan fires a shot just over the bar for Maypole, in the 17th min Brad Smith is adjudged to have brought down Das in the area and referee L. Dorling points to the spot, Crichton steps up for Maypole and tucks the ball into the bottom right corner, 1-0 Maypole. In the 23rd min, Das plays a great ball in for Baker who blazes over the bar, in the 27th min, Ben Doyle does well to work some room and from 20yds hits a great shot past Ross Garaty to make it 1-1, we had to wait till the 41st minute for the next goal, when Jordan Childs sent a free kick to the far post for Ben Doyle to head back and Charlie Jordan finished it off to make it 2-1 Pools, just before the break, a Maypole corner found the head of Richard Hilson but he could only head just over, Half Time 2-1 Pools.

The second half saw Pools continue from where they left off and only 3 mins into the half saw Glidden send a great cross into the box which evaded everyone and landed at the feet of the impressive Ben Doyle, who stroked home for his second and Pools third. In the 54th min a great ball from Childs found Doyle again in space but could not get his hat-trick as his shot went wide, in the 67th min Childs had a shot of his own but it goes just wide, in the 75th min Das creates some space for a shot but watches it go over the bar. In the 80th min, Hilson shot is well saved by Hardy who turns it round for a corner to Maypole, from the Corner Crichton’s header grazes the top of the bar, the final effort of the game saw an Ellice free kick superbly saved by Hardy for Pools who hold on for the win. Final Score Pools Ath 3  Maypole Ath 1
